Depreciation schedules

ProSeries can't import assets directly. Here's the detour.

Of the major suites, ProSeries is the one with no direct asset import at all. Assets have to arrive through Fixed Asset Manager, which then feeds the return — two hops instead of one.

The two-step route

Convert your schedule to a CSV, import that into Fixed Asset Manager, then push from Fixed Asset Manager into the ProSeries return. Each hop is straightforward on its own; the friction is that nobody documents them as a single path.

What doesn't survive the bridge

State depreciation does not transfer across the Fixed Asset Manager bridge. If your client has state figures that differ from federal, plan to key those separately — and know that before you start, not after.

Sourcing from ProSeries is easy

Going the other way — a ProSeries schedule as a source for Drake, Lacerte or ProConnect — is fully supported today, and it's the direction most people are travelling.

Questions

Is a ProSeries destination on the roadmap?
Last, honestly. The two-hop path means the value we can add is smaller than for the suites with a direct import, so it queues behind UltraTax and CCH.
Can I skip Fixed Asset Manager?
Not for a bulk import. Without it the only route into ProSeries is the data-entry screen, one asset at a time.
