ProSeries to ProConnect, without typing the assets twice

Intuit pushes this move and the returns come across. Fixed assets are the part that turns a weekend into a fortnight, because ProSeries has no direct asset export and ProConnect wants its own spreadsheet.

Send the current-year federal report

ProSeries prints the same Depreciation and Amortization Report as a current-year federal copy, a next-year projection, an AMT copy, a BOOK copy and a state copy. Only the first is the one you are moving. Send the whole return if it is easier — we identify the copies and name on screen which pages we transcribed.

What ProConnect will and won't take

Seventeen columns, first worksheet only, descriptions capped at 25 characters, and five columns that do not apply to a 1041. ProSeries schedules are wider than that, so some of what you print has nowhere to land — we show you what was dropped rather than letting you discover it in April.

Before the season, not during it

Software moves get decided between May and December and done in November and January. The ten-pack is priced for a firm converting its whole book in one sitting.

Questions

Is there an official ProSeries to ProConnect asset conversion?
Intuit converts the returns. Depreciation detail is the piece preparers most often report arriving short, and assets held outside the tax program do not come at all.
Our ProSeries report is a scan from a client's prior year file. Does that work?
Often, yes — we read the text layer where there is one and refuse honestly when there is not, rather than handing you a file built on guesses.
